I'm sure it can be done. When the old man used to drag race, he rolled the chaincase on an '84 Indy 600 to be able to run longer picks. How does the ol' trail cool up in the steep and deep.

Maybe swap to an Edge chaincase. They have a longer centre to centre. I have done alot of D&Rs on different sleds. It is alot of work.

It seems to stay pretty cool 785....we stop often and I open the hood up to let it cool off more.

Yea, edge chaincase is the easiest way to do it. I did it on an 86. Ran a 2" paddle. Really changed the sled.

That sled was the biggest waste of time I have ever messed with though. Guess it tought me a lot about modding sleds.

The biggest hurdle is the trailing arm mounts. Does it have inboard or outboard trailing arms? You will also have to modify the foot rests.

86? Hmmm! What motor does it have? Like said ^^^^^ it is alot of work, but if I were going to do it I would use an RMK chain case after the year 1997 or an edge case. The older cases are pretty cheap on ebay but the edge cases are still holding there value.

Back in the day the Horns and some one I can't remember from Utah used to buy up all the rental indy trails that came out of jelly stone, and make what they called the Popeus (sp?) Special. Most of the ones I have seen had a 141 track with a custom 670 skidoo motor in them. They rocked on the snow. It was the thing to have. Made the old brand new out of the box xlts and storms look like they were made for childs play.

Justin Horn still to this day holds his own at the Fairview shootout riding a 98 Horn chassis with a 700 non ves turbo. I think its just a Horn chassis though.

That chassis (Popeus special) IMO is why the Mt sleds are where they are today.

Any way with alot of work it is possible!
