Default Hawk Ramps

Just wondering if anyone had come up with any good ideas for loading a hawk by yourself (without using a snowbank). Has anyone come up with any type of ramp system or something, thanks everyone.

Been thinking about that one for some time myself! It's great when I can use an overhead chain hoist to load them backwards then just drive them out when we get to our riding destination. However it is not always so easy... Maybe a winch in the front of the pickup and a tray that rest on the tailgate. Drive the Hawk onto the tray, secure and winch it into the truck.

I know there have been posts on this on other forums... We need one here!

Default Loading the birds...

I mounted a hoist in the rafters in my garage and use it to load the hawk into the bed of my truck and then unload on a snowbank. It works well but I do wish there was a better system.

I think its "whitesurf" from MO that has an arm and winch mounted in the back of his truck. Looked pretty easy for him to load and unload in the parking lot at Hawkfest over the edge of his truck bed. I am sure he had to mount that to the frame of the truck to hold the weight of a hawk.

Bud hooked up a hoist and track system in his garage so after the hawk is hoisted up he can move it all over with the track system inside the garage.

I tried to build a ramp and after it never worked I gave up. So it would be great to hear some new ideas or what people have found to work.

I rode with a guy who took an old long box bed liner and would load up on a snow bank and would pull the hawk out with the bed liner. He did it all by himself. If you also watch the snowhawk addiction 3, you will see a good setup. He made a ramp with a winch on the ramp front. The hawk also tied down to the ramp. Then you would lift the back and slide into the truck.

The best solution out there is a little 1000lbs crane, WhistlerHawk has one and it's the best thing a guy can have beleive me ! You gotta reinforce your truck though. I'm sure he can send the link to the one he bought if he's around !

Roo has a slideable ramp that also looks like a very good idea.

I've had a few ideas brewing in my head for a while about this myself but I didnt know if anyone had actually found "the best way" to do this without having to drop huge money for something. I'm assuming that a drive on drive off trailer is the best way but for us that do have one of those i'd love to design something that will work and not cost a fortune to build or huge mods to my truck

Kinda wondered how you guys load/unload those things.

So I take it a regular snowmobile or a wide dirtbike ramp won't work?
Mine's got two UHMW strips on the sides for the skis, then a ladder-like center for the track to grab. I figure you'd need either a strip of something to slide down the middle to be durable enough to stand the sliding of hte ski, but grabby enough for the track to hook up to.

Does someone have Roo's phone number?

I'd like to see some pictures of his setup. From the little clip in the Snowhawk Addiction 3 video, his looks like what I'd be looking to do for myself.

If you guys are still running Boivins ski he has a quick disconnect dolly for the ski. It takes one heck of a beating, doesn't come off till you want it to, drives up,down and even backs up. With a solid ramp you can drive right in the back of a pickup. I kind of copied it and made one for the Gen II. Boivins makes 2 dollies for the ski, the one you would want is the one with the hardened steel frame. Tried the SureGripDolly on the Gen II and broke it the second time loading up a ramp, it wasn't meant to lean, not to mention I just about broke my neck.
