Hey all,
Just got done pulling the primary to adjust the pin weights and clean prior to my first trip out west. Swapped plugs, threw some fresh gas in and fired her up. Gave it plenty of time to warm up, (first real start since last season), but noticed off the bat that it had a difficult time holding high enough R's when idling. I got it to sustain about 1550 r's after some tinkering with the idle adjuster, but still had an issue with stalling out when I tried engaging reverse, or pinned the throttle from the idle position. I had to continuously feather the throttle before getting a crisp engagement. If I let it idle, then pinned the throttle, it quickly dropped r's, then stalled out. Just wondering what some of your thoughts are. Is that a symtom of gummed up carbs, fuel issue, or that solenoid recall? I know enough to tinker with the basics but not mechanically inclined enough to begin pulling carbs, etc apart. Just wondering what some of your thoughts are. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

Sounds like the pilots are plugged.
Carbs need to be cleaned every year before you start riding. Try to find a friend who knows how to disassemble the carbs and clean them properly. An hour spent on carb cleaning could save you hundreds of dollar later in the season.
