Cali Riding

Fellow BCR's in Cali.. Looking for some info on Cali riding, based out of the Sac Town area. I have been in Sac a few times but only in the summer. I will be down there this year from Mid Jan to end of Feb for a school. Will mostly have weekends off and I can take some time on either end of the school. The questions I have is

1. Where is there to ride in that time frame?
2. Anyone up for letting me tag along ?
3. Is there shops to rent sleds from or would I be better driving down and bringing my 08 M8 w me ?
4. Any special permits needed ?

I am a decent rider, have rode all over AK. Average 1500 miles a winter. Valdez AK would be favorite place to ride up here.

It depends on snow conditions etc but if it is a good year you should be able to ride the entire time you are at achool. There are a lot of people who ride out of Sac but if you would like you can tag along with me just about any weekend. I mostly ride Gold Lake area. Live three hrs from Sac so i would need to meet you there. I would bring your sled, you could possibly rent one but to have your own is much better. try mt. shasta area and the catsel cragrs about 30mim south of shasta get a hold of al's saw shop it's allso the articat shop in redding, talk to johnny or rick thay can show you some steep climbing funguys to ride with there allways there to help a fello rider tell them minor from idaho sent you.

Cool.. Thanks for the Info guys.. Im not sure if Im gonna bring my 27' enclosed trailer down w me or get a sled-deck on the way down..

cali has some laws for trailers you may want to go sleddeck.
towing = 55 and if it snows ANY you need chains on trailer and truck.

You have awesome riding less than 2 hours from SAC..Shasta is OK but you will have a hell of a drive for what you can get out your back door.

So my plans for driving got squashed. Ill be flying in and getting a rental car/truck. So with that. Where is the best shop to rent sleds from? And or lodge that has package deals? Or Im thinking of booking a weekend w chris burant at the end of my school.
