Thumbs up Pocket Chainsaw

http://www.pocketchainsaw.com/

I haven't tried it yet but got one to add to the pack. What do you think? I think it could come in handy and it doesn't take up much space at all.

Since you asked.....

I own one. got it years (and I mean years) ago at the sportsman show here in Seattle. Nice little gizmo, it's about the size of a chew can. But.... frankly, it's kinda heavy, and you need those little handles or your fingers are going to be real, real sore, pretty fast. Sure, you could always find a stick to put through each ring, and that way you wouldn't have to carry handles, but, to be honest, I'd rather spend the $20 on the biggest folding saw that my pack would securely hold. You can use that folding saw with gloves on, even your super-thick emergency pair, you can use it easier to un-stick yourself if you are ever unsuccessful at driving through a tree. Also, that chain saw is a little goofy to get to work on smaller branches: branches big enough you have to cut (you can't just break them) but small enough in dia that the chain ends up making a very tight apex.

Don't get me wrong, it's a neat tool, and it certainly is compact. But given the choice, i'd take that folding saw from Lowes or Home Depot for $20.

Well I've haven't tried it yet but the hub did and he said he'll carry it forsure.

He gave it a thumbs up compared to my other little folding saw.

Here's a couple of vids.

After watching I'm going to just make sure my hubs always with me.

^^^ I agree, if you're going to carry one, keep it dry, and oiled, and it would be good to check it to make sure no moisture has gotten into it. If that chain doesn't move and flex freely, it's going to have a huge impact on how well it works. I hope it works well for you!

I have one that I pack in my backpack for emergencies like last year when I broke the blade on my folding saw, it saves time over waiting for a friend to find me in the trees

I also pack it in my saddle bags on the horse. I also pack a folding saw alot of the time though.
