I'm wondering what the real cost of running a turbo on a m-series really costs. How much does it cost to keep running the sled like it should, such are how often are you replacing the pistons, reeds and what not? The potential cost is the only thing that is holding me back from getting one. I'm thinking of putting the turbo on my m7 if that means anything.

i have an OVS garrett race gas kit on my 06 m7. the cost of buying the turbo is the big hit. as for yearly costs its not really that bad. i put reeds in mine every year, check my top end, have not replaced it yet. i have about 1000 boosted miles on the sled, 1200 total miles on sled. fuel costs alot but that comes with the fun of having a turbo. once i got mine dialed in its been pretty much pull the rope and go. its well worth the money if you can afford to have one. hope this helps

I would love to keep my sled and turbo it, and still have it pretty much pull and go. would rather not have to deal with the weight of the yammy's, love the handling of my sled.

body of mine had a turbo on his m8 and head four different turbos in it last year they kept eating the bearing out. He has another new one in this year we will see they said they fixed the problem. As for that it is a lot of cost never asked but also don't want to know what he put into his sled last year

It depends on how you run it. A pump gas kit staying around 8 lbs. isn't much different cost wise than an N/A sled. Reeds will cost you about $80 bucks every time you change them. Reed life is directly related to charge temp and #'s of boost. If you want 12 lbs all season you are probably going to need a couple sets of reeds. The top end life in most cases isn't significantly reduced. The motors hold together well but as you add more power other things may need attention, specifically the Diamond Drive. The bigger you go the more expensive everything will be. If you stay on pump gas I doubt you will see much difference.

Surprised nobody has mentioned belts. A famous ex-cat rider told me he goes through a belt every ride or two.

![]() From what I see belt life in a turbo (reasonable levels of boost) is comparable to a decent 1000, short unless you have the patience to let them cool off from time to time. |

I don't have a turbo but I rode with several TM8's last season and their belts where holding up a lot better then mine on my N/A M1K.

i have over 800 miles on one belt on my TM7. belts have never been an issue for me. reeds once a season has been mainly it
