Anyone try the Boysen rage cage set up's on a REV after the stockers tear out? I tossed a set in the sled and made no jetting changes. The milage droped to 50 miles to a tank (was over 100 last season). This is on a 121 track by the way. If you used these reeds, what did you have jetting set at?

i found this... there should be a chart with those..
: Do I have to re-jet my motorcycle if I install Boyesen Power Reeds? A: To obtain optimum performance we recommend that you re-jet your motorcycle. Typically, the motor will go lean on the bottom and rich on the top with the main jet being most affected. See the Power Reed installation instructions for more jetting information. in my opinion, i prefer vforce reeds. ran them in my bikes, and now in my 07 rev 8. maybe look into those as well.

I know there are a bunch of people that have used them on sleds. Mine is a gas hog after the change and the plugs look fine so I'm confused. I'll post the question on Dootalk and see if anyone has any input..

TONS of experience with these on sleds and I won't waste another penny on them....For sleds. Maybe in a warm environment like M/C they work better but with the constant heating and cooling in a very wet environment they SUCK...In my humble opinion! Quote:
Am I missing something? is your sled injected? Seriously, I'm not sure why you'd use the rage cage in a carbureted sled. I believe they work really well in the SDI stuff but throw everything off in the carb sleds...I could be thinking of something else but.... I run the Boysen Rad Valves (without the cage) in my 800HO. Mainly got them for the billet intakes but I love the "Hit" they produce. Idles like a funny car too!

You can likely drop the pilots down a size and drop the needle a notch, do a good plug check to be sure.

They are called the "rage cage". Billet aluminum cage with reeds, sled is a carb'd 04 800 HO. Ran sled with 380 mains (400 stock) bumped the pilots to 22.5 from 19.5 added a .030 shim under the needle. I also had a 121 x 1.75 track and the sled pulled like a freight train. Milage was 50 miles to a tank, no more no less. Does the track kill the milage that much? I did reinstall the 1.25" track as it was a bit much for around here in MN. Waiting for snow or ice to do the testing. Grass drags are another way to test but it's only 500' at a time.
