Loosen track and remove rear wheel assembly. You might get by with just removing the shaft in the center and leave the inner wheels and black plastic adjusters inside the rails.
Remove the track adjuster from the outside of the rail. You'll need to measure the axle to make sure you cut it to the correct length. The way I made my two wheel kit it came out to be 9 1/2 inches long. Once cut you will need to re-thread the one end using a 3/8 x 16 tap. ![]() The two black plastic adjuster that you removed from the outside portion of the rail can be cut to make a plastic washer. The reason I did this was so that the rear axle goes completely through the rails and is provided with the most amount of support. ![]() ![]() Slide the axle back into the rear wheel assembly. You will notice that the axle sticks out past the end of the rails just a bit. This is what I was talking about above. Now place the cut plastic adjusters on the outside of the rail. I made mine just a bit shorter that the combined width of the slide rail assembly with the cut plastic adjuster. I felt this would let me tighten the rear axle without bottoming on the axle itself. ![]() ![]() Now you need to mount the track adjuster on the inside of the rail. Throw the bolt in the axle and you done. ![]()

Good post tundramonkey, but if I may add one thing. If you are doing this on a 141 you might have to cut down the ajustment bolts or risk hitting them when you bottom out.
Rep to ya. |

yes have seen a couple of 141 that hit the track adjusting bolt when you put it on the inside. cut my plastic adjusters the same way, figured the notch is there to help keep the axle centered. i also used a large washer on each side for the bolt to hit against instead of just the plastic cut adjuster...

Nice job tundramonkey. I was thinking about doing something similar b/f I ran across the BDX. It was only $26. shipped.
Might I comment on one thing? I was wondering if you used the aluminum tube to go b/t the wheels to keep them spaced apart. I could see where that could potentially be an issue if they were allowed to walk together. |
