Default power vavles.

How often do you need to clean the power valves on an 08 700 RMK?

Also, how hard is it to pull em out, what are the do's and don't and what is the best way to clean em?

Hows that for a question.

Ollie, I know you. I think you asked that question before. Pull the bolts. You may need a new gasket if you aren't real careful. I used to clean mine a couple times a year. Never had to though, I always ran a semi synthetic oil which seemed to help lots. Polaris gold is real expensive, only ran it for warantee... then switched. The black gunk on the valves is a chore to get off. I have tried brake clean, gasoline, deisel, varsol, degreaser, carb cleaner and combustion chamber cleaner. I think the carb cleaner worked the best, but bottom line... muscle is the key. Scotch brites and some form of cleaner... work at it. You will have to figure out how often you clean them. Depends on oil, mileage, type of riding and I would say how long you store it for at one time.

Later...

If I was riding a Polaris I'd clean them every year, they are very simple to pull
out, clean and put back in.

Does and Don't...We need someone with a current polaris to do a how to
like the one on the Diamond drives...

My only polaris is an 01 without power valves.

What ever you do don't use anything like a wire wheel to remove the carbon build up or you can take off the coating on them and they tend to stick way worse then.

I usually try to clean mine twice a year as the more often you do it the easier it is.

I find warming the engine first makes the job a little easier if you are dealing with stuck valves.

I use oven cleaner spray and let it soak for a bit. For the real crusty, hard to get off carbon I'll go carefully with a razor blade and scrape it off. PB Blaster has worked in a pinch...but it won't cut through the hard crusty stuff.

i believe polaris recommends cleaning every 500 miles

i clean my valves 3-4 times a year but i have nothing else to do but wait for the mountain trips 1-2 a month

ill get a how to on it next week for the edge and the dragon models

only problem is the dragons will be clean already from the update
