Default Belt Break-in??

I switched the old belt with a new one on my '07 Summit and couldn't keep the same rpms. Is this normal with a new belt? I switched back to the old one and it works like it should now. They are the same belt too.

Did you adjust the deflection for the new belt?

I don't know either, if you want to sell it and buy a cat I can help you out. If not ask one of the boys in the Doo section. My guess is deflection is your issue.

And, yes, there is a belt break-in period on Doo belts. Vary the throttle for the first 20 miles or so, if I recall.

generally a good idea to wash the belt in warm soapy water to wash off any residue.
It helps keep the belt from glazing.

Belt deflection would be my bet also as far as the RPM's go.
No clue how to adjust it on a doo though.
Sorry.

ollie is on the money...the new belt has mold release compound on it...washing it is a must...and same belt numbers still can differ slightly

Well I guess I'll have to find out how to adjust belt deflection then. Thanks
