Default Hyfax options

Are the graphite hyfax worth a **** or should I just get oem ones again? Don't want to fully clip my track so the hyperfax are not an option for me. Are the regular black ones Shadetree Powersports sells (UHMW) the same material as the oem ones?

I've just been buying them from the dealer, I think they get ordered through western power sports. No complaints thus far.

I tried the graphite hyfax. I honestly think it went away faster then the standard stock ones.
I generally get around 1200 miles on a set and just use the stock ones.
I dont' run scratchers either.

oh, they sell a "button" that will act as a clip for the areas that are unclipped if you want to try the hyperfax.

Yeah all the "normal" ones are UHMW plastic.

here's a little tip I learned back in my ice racing days.

once installed tip the sled on the side and take a 3/16" drill bit in your drill and mark the bit for a depth less than the "worn out" point on the hyfax. put 3 dimples diagonally in the hyfax across the windows. These dimples will hold snow and it melts out an lubes the hyfax/track clips when on icy trails. This combined with a set of scratchers and you'll never melt a set down. I run no bogie wheels and it makes your hyfax last way longer.

Good advice guys, much appreciated. I just ended up buying the UHMW with the graphite. They were only $19.99 ea. Bought an extra set for both sleds. Guess we'll see how the next 1000 miles treat me. I only got 800 miles out of my Dragon last year using scratchers and lots of powder riding so I was kinda confused since my edge got 2500 miles out of its hyfax running in even worse conditions over its lifetime...

when you say "diagonally" you mean rather than drilling straight up from the bottom, drill upwards at about a 45 degree angle towards the back of the sled? Thus scooping the snow into those cavities, right?

I think by diagonally he means from one corner to the other across the window.

Yeah, just to stagger the holes and not get them too close together. Next time I do a set I'll post a pic, probly in a couple weeks. But it works pretty dang good.
