800r something else to check
With all the inconsistencies around the 800r motor, thought I would post a potential issue that never seems to be raised. Seals on the RAVE valve shaft can leak. Your dealer can check the one-way vacuum valves, the DPM operation, the RAVE operation, but if the RAVE seals are leaking they won't function properly. When I pulled mine apart, one was clean inside, one was dripping with exhaust residue....a sign that the seals are bad. BTW, those big springs that hold the bellows on are not for the faint of heart....LOL.

had a big conversation with LLRotax88 the other day ..it seems that "Run Out" is just "ONE" the things regarding 800R motors ..he said that Turbo Al was checking run out on a brand new 07 800RS motor sled ..never even run and the run out was upwards of 5-6 thou out ..
basically a ticking time bomb....which of course would lead to all kinds of good stuff including PTO seal going bad right away and sucking air ,or a crank that would just be so out it wouldn't take long to destruct. good thoughts Dave Last edited by H2SNOW; 11-15-2009 at 12:13 PM.

How could you check for bad seals? pulled mine apart yesterday to clean them up...a little oily but they didn't look terrible?
