My wife and I are thinking of moving. I would like to know what the job market is like and in general where a good place is. I am looking for a construction job or similar.
Thanks |

Don't blame you. My wife grew up in Alaska and if it were not for my business I think we'd go there too. Should be an interesting thread.

Thanks for the quick replies. I actually graduated with a bs in construction engineering in 2006. The last 3 years I mananaged the excavation side of a small excavation/gravel producing/trucking company. I have worked for that company for about 10 yrs now and grew up around heavy equipment. Between the the recession and new zoning regulations, we are not doing nearly as well as i would have hoped.

THere should be some jobs up here in the construction industry. I am a Mech/operator & have always been able to find work. It is slower this year than the last couple (at least where I work) but, there is alot of work on the bases right now. Wainwright & Eilson.

I work for Big Dipper construction in wasilla, and i find that people that are looking for just drive around site to site with carharts and steel toes on with resume in hand and it works for them. we hired a labor last year that way.
Good Luck
