Default OBDII Patch Cable sans Digital Wrench

Has anyone here built a Patch cable to connect the common OBD II Scanner to the Polaris on-board computer?

I read on another forum where it was stated this was possible, and listed out all Polaris codes for comparison.

This would help pinpoint issues with a little more detail than just de-coding the number of Check Engine light flashes.

not sure how I missed this thread...

But I don't think it's possible tbqh.

If Poo's using their own ECU firmware, why would they use a generic OBDII protocol.
My guess is they have their own utility (digital wrench) that interfaces through SPI or I2C that reads/writes data to addresses on the EEPROM.

I would *LOVE* to get my hands on the hardware or schematics for digital wrench. But I would guess that once you started reverse engineering it, and especially if you got in... you'd be getting some letters from lawyers at Polaris.

There's going to be similar codes to OBDII... but you're not going to get an OBDII-compliant message out of the ECU.

Thanks for the reply and information.

Here's what I got so far. These are for the FS?FST Engine management system and are for example only.

"Codes are "P" type, same definition as any OBDII. Polaris uses a proprietary connector to access the serial communication port of the ECU, so typical OBDII readers can't be used. You need to use Digital Wrench from Polaris or a "custom wired" code scan emulator."

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (zDTCz) from Polaris FS/FST Engine Management. Displayed by Digital Wrench diagnostic system.

P0030 Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit: Open Load ECU Pin 323 circuit is disconnected.
P0031 Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit: Short to Ground ECU Pin 323 circuit is shorted to ground.
P0032 Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit: Short to Battery ECU Pin 323 circuit is shorted to battery voltage.
P0105 Intake Manifold Pressure: Plausibility Error Intake manifold pressure outside expected range.
P0107 Intake Manifold Pressure: Short To Ground ECU Pin 106 circuit is shorted to ground.
P0108 Intake Manifold Pressure: Short to Battery ECU Pin 106 circuit is shorted to battery voltage or O.L.
P0112 Intake Air Temp.: Short to Ground ECU Pin 317 circuit is shorted to ground.
P0113 Intake Air Temp.: O.L. or Short to Battery ECU Pin 317 circuit is shorted to battery voltage or O.L.
P0117 Coolant Temp. Sensor: Short to Ground ECU Pin 305 circuit is shorted to ground.
P0118 Coolant Temp. Sensor: O.L. or Short to Battery ECU Pin 305 circuit is shorted to battery voltage or O.L.
P0122 TPS: O.L. or Short to Ground ECU Pin 302 circuit is O.L. or shorted to ground.
P0123 TPS: Short to Battery ECU Pin 302 circuit is shorted to battery voltage or TPS is disconnected.
P0130 Oxygen Sensor Circuit: Signal Error ECU Pin 124 circuit is O.L., shorted to battery voltage, shorted to ground, or
there is an internal short within the O2 sensor.....

and etc.,

there are about 115 or so listed....

That's interesting.

I might have to hook up a scope and my code reader to my sled and see what comes out.

The Polaris ECU uses the CAN's interface and the ODBII code set. However the connector isn't standard. You can buy the cable and the SmartLink module But the bottom line is you'll need the Digital Software and that you cant buy. At least not without "friends" in the right places.
