ok im guessing here..my 07 didn;t need one and i mounted an 55w one on my bars anyway...but here goes my guess...since your low beams are always on at engine start..right..??...then i would install it in the low beam circuit...if in the high beam circuit you can have the switch in low beam and you resistor won;t work...this is if i am assuming correct that the LOW BEAM...is on when the switch is also on HIGH BEAM...but maybeit should as well go somewhere back in the current supply chain..but i thought they were designed just to plug in to the lighting circuits..am i wrong..??

I ditched the headlights on my 08 M1000 and never had an issue, 1900 miles. My understaning is no need for a resister on the 08.

True 07,08s do not need a resistor

The 07,08 models have manual reverse that is powered by a small motor. The system needed to power that motor is DC current, and already has the protection of over load/no load built into the system.

Same here on the 5 07-09 sleds I've owned.

15k miles+ between them & no issues.
