Hi,
I have an 08 M8, new to me! Love that thing. The boys I ride with figure I need to switch in a 2 wheel kit. I've heard it aids in the manouverability I 1. I don't know alot about the pros and cons to doing this 2. Is it difficult to switch out the old and put in the new 2 wheel kit? any input is appreciated! Mom |

Hey Mom;
I picked up a two wheel axle kit from these guys for my 1M , http://www.carbonsled.com/2_wheel_axles.htm. I have not had a chance to get it put on yet though. The advantage is supposed to be in allowing the track to bend slightly when side hilling and some weight loss. The disadvantage would be in low snow conditions, maybe some increase in hifax wear. They are fairly easy to install with the hardest part being getting the track lined back up and tensioned correctly after you're done, which is in general just more time consuming than anything else. |

i think fastlane has a kit as well...bdx has,but some issues but as always bdx responds very quick so issues probably its resolved...im going to a kit soon..and do not know which one..some kits sell the shaft and you reuse your wheels...i think as well it may be best to stick with plastic/rubber stock wheels rather then the fancy machined guys...advantages...from what i read...sidehilling/carving/snow excavation from track/.....didadvantages..really none..

two wheel kit not only adds nice looks to the sled it's less rolling resistance and suppose to be easier to sidehill as it lets the track fold over easier
prolite makes a 2 wheel kit for the m-series that uses the stock wheels and it saves 2 lbs all for only 19.95 ill pm you about this too |

looks cool, losses weight, can be done with the stock axle and a little time, but unless your pretty handy with tools is easiest to just buy a kit. if your a jumper would suggest not!!!

Less rolling resistance, I don't think it makes any difference sidehilling.

I was up at 3:00am this morning thinking about this 2 wheel kit. I was thinking about last year when we dropped the track on my Powder special and what a pain in the azz it was to get it lined back up again.
I think my 3:00am decision was to wait and try out my friends M8 on a hill and see how different it feels. you guys Rock!! thank you for your input! |
