Default ABS Escape 15L Avy Pack ??'s

so I wont get into this a whole bunch, BUT i have just a few questions regarging this pack (I know this is in the GS section, but I think this gets more traffic than the avy section)

1. can the shovel be mounted on the outside?
**if so, please post a pic of yours and how it's done

2.do you have to buy a "lefty" handle, or can you just switch the existing one on the left shoulder?

3.is 15L enough space??
**I currently run the DAKINE Heli Pro and its a 20L pack
**its perfect in my mind, will i miss the additional 5L of space?

4. does it have an external spot for the shovel handle and probe to mount as well?
**I have checked out the websites, and it doesnt really say/show anything in particular
**again pics are appreciated

I have an opportunity to pick up a MINT used one (and need to move fast) for a really good price, so just looking for some answeres specific to this model.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

1. Yes, the shovel blade can be mounted on the outside. I'll attach a picture of how it can be done.

2. The trigger can be switched to the right side if you want to pull with your left hand, but the trigger holster will be facing away from you unless you buy a lefty holster. I've tried over and over to order one, but working with ABS is really a pain in the butt, so I can't say I can get you one for sure. Klim is even more difficult to work with as a distributor, so good luck with that one.

3. 15L is enough for the basics. You're not going to be packing the kitchen sink, but if you mount the shovel outside like I've shown, you should have enough room if you're used to 20L. It has several pockets to store items in.

4. There isn't a place for a shovel handle or probe on the outside of the 15. What I recommend is a Black Diamond Deploy shovel. It's the one with the shaft that slides down along the scoop, so the handle and scoop are always together. It's almost as if that shovel and pack were made for each other. It's by far the best selling shovel for people with ABS Escape packs.

Let me know if you have any other questions about any airbags. Feel free to call or email too. And FYI, I check the avalanche category every weekday and sometimes weekends, so I'll see it there before I will in the General section if you need a reply fast.

Default Escape 15 with Deploy Shovel

Here's a pic of the Escape 15 with a Deploy 3 shovel mounted on the outside. The Deploy 7 is bigger and still mounts on the outside just fine. This is what I recommend for a shovel on the Escape 15. This way all of the storage space isn't taken up by your shovel on the inside, and you won't get all your gear wet every time you use the shovel and stick it back inside. Let me know if you have any other questions.

just wanted to post a BIGG thank you to Brian @ Snowbigdeal

like i mentioned above, I was able to pick up a slightly used ABS Escape 15L pack today...for under $800!
Brian wasnt getting the sale on this one (although I would have bought from him after his help and the fact that he cant get the ABS across the boarder) and he still helped a tonne

He sent me pics, answere PM's etc.. all SUPER quick!!!!!!

I have been on the fence all year w what pack to buy: ABS, SP or BCA
i actually have a BCA on order, but i cant wait that long to get one, as i have a trip planned next week and christmas

Cant wait to pick up my new to me ABS!

anyways...THANKS AGAIN BRIAN AND SNOWBIGDEAL for all your help!!!!

I also attached soem more pics of the pack, if anyone else is interested in getting this same pack

I guess if the moderators wish to move this to the avy section, that would be appreciated (I just needed a quick response today)
