I know but the sled is frustrating to ride. I could never tree ride out west with it. I'de burn a belt in 10 min. if that.

If there is a grinding, there should be marks left somewhere? I re-read your original post. How long did you ride it with the track that tight? Maybe a bearing issue on the rear skid? Can you narrow down where the noise is coming from? Under the hood, skid, etc?

I got a chance to spend some time looking over my sled today. This is what I found.

I like to set my belt deflection so that the track slowly turns on it's own or is really easy to spin with one finger. I had it set, spinning it with one finger and then it hit a tight spot. Pushed through it, Spun it some more, and another tight spot. I thought it was in the belt so I shut the sled off and removed the belt.

I turned the track with the belt off, motor off of coarse. And low and behold there are two tight spots per revolution.

I inspected everywhere under the sled, and around the drivers looking for the track to be binding somewhere. It didn't appear to be binding anywhere. I still believe it's in the gear case. Or it's binding somewhere on the drivers that I can't see.

Any thoughts?

Can you have a friend use the throttle while you listen to the gear case for the grinding?

Could be a warped brake rotor, or sticking pad?
I'd be inclined to pull the dd cover and see if the bearings spun again.

Should be able to find it now through process of elimination. If you can feel it by hand, just start taking things out of the equation till its gone. Rotor , dimond drive, drive axel, ect.

The easiest thing to do first, is take the diamond drive out and spin it by hand. See if you feel the binding. It only takes about ten minutes to pull it out.

I looked some more and found it to be missing track clips. The track would stick on the slides. LOL kinda feel SMRT. I finally convinced the dealer to try a new Diamond Drive. If that's not the problem it's definetly in the engine. It's dropping in RPM now. It will only hold 7850 max even on hard pack. If you hold it open for a while you can feel it grab a few more rpm accelerate and then bind and pull it back down. Extremely hard on belts of coarse. I talked to a guy who said his buddies did it for about 80 miles before his cranked seized on his 2010 cat. I wish this thing would just pile up already.

If it was in the brake rotor wouldn't you feel in pulsing on the brake lever?
