Default Plugging the exhaust purge hoses

Any thoughts about doing this? It is my understanding that these hoses are there as part of a EPA pollution controls, and do not let the exhaust valves open until 5000 or so RMP's. I hear this feature only steals acceleration and low end power. Any downside to plugging these hoses? What it the best way to plug them if necessary? I am generally speaking about the newer VES systems.

Not exactly what sled you are talking about but when i built my IQR back in 07 with a 600HO with a carls 660 kit, there was little to no noticable differenece when the valves plugged or not plugged. Not sure on the newer CFI stuff, but on the carb version it wasn't a huge difference. Just my .02 cents!

I would be trying this on a 07 700 Dragon and an 08 800 Dragon.

I've thought about this..and I came up with a way to check it out.....Take some small vice grips and pinch hose closed and run against a similiar machine. It is one way to check without cutting or plugging hoses.

About the only real advantage that there is to doing it comes from not ever having a failure of the solenoid not closing causing the valves to never open and it not puking oil into your belly pan. That and if your crafty and get a resistor that matches the resistance of the solenoid coil you can dump about a lb off the weight and never have a problem to deal with. Without adding the resister the first time the ECU tries to open the solenoid it will throw a code.

Edit: I have to do more investigation on the resistor thing, depending on the current load it could take a pretty heavy duty resistor to dissipate the power in the circuit.
