When I moved mine forward moving the bottom forward 2" seemed like the max before the steer linkage rubbed cross tube and it gets close to over centering. I think rolling the stem forward is a better choice.

How far forward are you wanting to go? We have one that the bars are moved forward 9 inches if you are interested in going that much I can get pics tomorrow. You do have to cut into the hood to get it to work.
