Unhappy Update, .... nothing exciting...

Just to freshen up the MN forum the rain storm Christmas night put a heavy crust on the already low snow conditions.
I was up in the Breezy Point area late yesterday afternoon, and saw about 5 sleds poking along the ditch along CR-11 near the Commander Tavern.
If we don't get decent snow damn soon, grooming clubs might lose portions of their 3rd Grant payment from the DNR. We have already been "cut" the 4th payment for the past 3 years.

Worse scenario, we get decent snow remainder of this season, and again in the 2018 season, clubs will have no choice but to reduce grooming schedules even though there may be plenty of snow, and perhaps raise money on their own to cover the DNR cut-backs from previous years. Funding always runs a year or two behind current conditions.

Currently MNUSA says there are 48,000 sleds, yes 48,000, with expired registrations. Not counting antiques or vintage.
Can't blame folks for not wanting to renew with horse crap conditions, BUT.. that is a "uuuuuge" portion of our state wide grooming budget.
