Default T motion 154" hawk build thread

Hi folks!

Gonna start a build thread on here.

Got two hawks that are going through a remake
1x600 137 and a 503f with 121 track.

Then the main objective is to install a t-motion 154" suspension into the 600 hawk and install a chain drive kit.And by doing so, i will snatch the 137 track and parts and place them in the 503. The belt drive from the 600 will probably migrate to the 503 also.

Still waiting on some parts to really start the build. But there is much ordering of parts and overall planing to get this done. I will try and update as soon as any work is being done.

My stock aluminium secondary clutch shaft is being replaced by a steel one next week.

Steve sampson is setting me up with some beautiful drop and roll kits. Awesome stuff!

Just recieved the t motion suspension from a 2015 summit today. Its a bit wide but will fit after some cutting of the axels and fabrication of attachment points to the rear suspension axel in the hawk tunnel) one idler wheel was a bit damaged so i ordered a replacement. Will install anti stab kit also.

Today i have dissasembled both sleds in order to start the transplant.

Going to shift the anti stab kit and rail extensions from the 600 to the 503F suspension. Need to change the old drivers to 2.86 pitch and replace the tensioner straps (old and tired) A timbersled 10" ski will also be added to the 503.

When its done. I will have a fun 503F hawk for casual riding and the 600 will be to show the sledders what hawks are really capable of in the deep and steep.

Never done a build thread before.

snohawk503 is an unknown quantity at this point
Thumbs up

Cool. That's the same setup I'm running in my two hawks minus the t motion. You will like it.

i am no engineer nor qualified mechanic, just a hobby greasemonkey when i need to be. my brother is more experienced in building stuff. so much talking on the phone about solutions and parts. if he starts his build, he will maybe post here in my thread aswell. he's thinking about putting a 800 rotax in his 503F with snowmobile suspension also.

my garage is cold storage, so i stapled a huge tarp on the inside and placed a builders heatfan inside to keep me warm, its freezing outside and the first snow came last week. hung som straps on the roof beams to be able to ratchet the hawks up in the air when working on them. its a real man-cave right now

both hawks will have TS 10" ski, the 137" track has profile cut in lugs to fit. the 154 will be uncut.

sidenote: my 600 hawk is the last snowhawk ever imported to Sweden. Impossible to get the right paperwork to register anymore hawks. So. These are rare birds indeed.

pardon my spelling sometimes, but at least im not writing like the Swedish chef from "the muppets "speaks

now, let the good times roll

Transplanted the anti stab kit. Rail extensions, idler wheels and slides from the 600 to the 503F suspension. Fabricated some new limiter straps aswell

Next step is to get the drivers replaced to 2.86 pitch on the fanner..

Trying to pull out the track out of the 600. Its a real struggle. Its supertight with the no slip drivers to get the shaft out..

While you're there you should install these. Makes changing out the track extremely easy.
I dont have better pics of them but you get the idea of where they go.

Im running a holtz skid out of a polaris or I should say I "ran"

2 minutes into the maiden voyage I stabbed the track and ended up running the stock suspension the rest of the season.

Ill sell you the drive shaft frame inserts but not the suspension mounts. I dont have any time on the rear suspension mounts to know if they will hold up and I doubt theyd line up to your ski doo skid or Id sell those to. Ill send you an email.

Gives you a look at how the arms worked.

Great success

I used the good old
"IKEA-cuttingboard-behind-the-drivers-trick"
So that the teeth dont hook up on the track when pulling it sideways, and i removed 2 bolts in the lower frame and easly pushed the frame apart. 5 minutes total work and it was out! I deserve a beer tonight.

note: this probably only works if you have cut the outside teeth on one of the drivers before, as i did installing the drivers.

Now its just a waiting-game on parts, i will put the fanner togheter first before i get going full focus on the 600 project Nice to clear up the workspace a bit
