Default West coast salmon returns 2015

In BC (Fraser river) we have had mixed results this year.
sockeye (reds) below average and forecasts
Kings (chinook) above average and forecasts
Pinks (humpies) below avg and forecasts
Coho (silvers) too early to say but I've got a bunch already in spite of forecast doom.
Chum (keta or dogs) above average and some real pigs.

Interested in AK returns and Columbia #'s.
No 2 years or runs are the same, hoping for a good fall/winter season.

They shut down the Skagit, Stilliguamish, and Snohomish systems in Puget Sound to salmon fishing. I have heard the nets are still in the river though. Washington state is really starting to suck!

That due to low fish numbers or the drought?

They're opening Georgia straight to commercial gill net & seine boats, so our runs must be decent. Sad to hear about Wash. st.. Why no bonneville fish cam this year? That was some good tv right there.

Catching silvers on the sand bar does get them sandy, they all get washed, filleted frozen and then bathed in smoke for 4 days, before getting consumed with cream cheese, red onion & crackers. Need 20 more for the smoker, got 30 already.

They say they need to protect salmon runs. But for who??? Looks like the tribes win again. Nothing says protect runs like stretching a net across it...FFS! And the tribes say they are the stewards of our environment.

I understand closing fishing if the run is lower than expected. I don't understand how they can keep stringing the nets across the river. Ya right, the stewards of our natural resources, what a joke.

Every year I get a little closer to not buying another Washington fishing license. If every salmon and steelhead fisherman didn't buy a license, and didn't fish, for just one season maybe that would get their attention.
