Default Repair intake vent XM

So while out riding last weekend I notice that my intake vents now have holes in them. To replace the vents it looks to be about $29.99 per side. I am thinking of trying to fix them my self.

My ideas:

1. Get a set of nylons and replace what is there with that.

2. Get some thin alum with tinny holes and put that in. Maybe paint black or just polish.

3. Talk to 2cool and see if they have anything to replace it.

4 Bite the bullet and just buy new ones.

Has anyone else done anything to replace their intake vents?

I had thought about that. The holes in pet screen are much larger. the material they use on the intake is more like Frog skin stuff. I really worry about the fine powder getting in the intake with such a large hole.

Stretch some black pantyhose under the pet screen?

Pet screen's pretty tough, gives the vent some protection against branches poking through.

Maybe swing by an arts/crafts store and see what they have in bulk.

Is $29.99 a big deal? Seems like a lot of anxiety for a small amount of money.

Did the panty hose thing in Michigan for a sled that was eating snow. Works great, for awhile. They do freeze when snow melts.

It is when you are spending $60.00 couple times a year. I think $30.00 per side is a bit steep for that part. If it was $15.00 per side I would just buy them and replace.

Metal Screen seemed to work fine. The powder wasn't all that great so not a real test yet.
