Default 800 VES: SLP single or twins?

I hear a lot of arguments on both sides of the fence. Seems like the twins are more sensitive to elevation changes but other than that no major complaints that I've heard. We typically start out around 2500' and ride on up to 9000' or so. Lots of good deals to be had on twins lately it seems... which should I go for?

If you like to tweek your sled during a ride, go with the twins.

If you like to pull the rope and go, go with a single.

Single pipes are very forgiving compaired to a set of twins.
Given the elevation changes your are talking about, I would just go with a single.

Definitely like pull and go. I talked with a guy who has my same sled with a set of twins on it (but his is ported/polished, bla bla bla) and he rides the same place I ride and was happy with his setup... I think he could get me tuned pretty nicely.
BigTruck... PM coming.

I ran twins for several years on my 02 with zero trouble. Pull and go. They do make better HP on the high end thats for sure.

Heres the pipes. They are in excellent condition. They are off my neighbors 800 RMK. He just painted them black.

BigTruck... PM coming.
I have twins and my sled is ported/polished too. I have set my sled up for 6000-9000 in elevation. I love my set up. She definitely isn't set up for easy going riding. You gotta get on her! She likes a good slap in the a$$! I also love boondocking and have been happy.

I do think 2500 ft to 9000 ft is too drastic of an elevation change for twins. I would give SLP (Starting Line Products) a call in Idaho Falls. I have had a single on my sled too. I liked it, but damn my twins pull!!!

This came from their website:

Quote:
Due to the radical stock compression ratio, when used at elevations below 3000 feet, these pipes require either the use of SLP Power Dome Billet Heads with 91 octane pump fuel or the stock head with a 20% race/premium fuel blend.
I would use 20% race or av fuel regardless. I did, even before I ported and just had twins.

If I have to run race gas then single it will be... I don't ride enough to justify chasing down/mixing gas when I do get to go... I'd rather pull up to the pump and drive away.

The only time you would need to run race gas is if your ported or running high compression heads..

As stated, I ran twins on my 02 for three years with no problems and NO mixing of race gas with no burndowns whatsoever.

Twins create horsepower and singles create torque..

Both are good way's to go depending on what you want.
