Default ZX Chassis 670 Mod Build 159" Questions to finish...

Long story but finally going to finish this build I started 3 years ago... And I'm to the point I need some help... I've read a million posts everywhere... And still need some advice...

First build ever...

I live in wisconsin... And the sled will never go to the mountains... Just building for fun cause I love sleds and it's a challenge... And it's what modding is all about...

Started with a complete but pounded 1999 MXZ 600 Non HO
After gutting it... found the tunnel/bulkhead was to abused to use
So I bought a 2001 MXZ tunnel/bulkhead to use that's straight and clean..

Hears my parts list I own... most on sled already...

2001 MXZ 600 chassis
2000 144" rails with 7" WPS extensions
2000 HIgh Mark skid components fully rebuilt with above rails... No idlers... Scratchers on skid and skis..
CE Components 6 3/4"to 9" Big Wheel Kit
CE Components anti stab kit

Now the skid mounting points have been moved 4" back and 2 1/2" down in the front...
And 4" back and on 5" drop downs in the rear.... Homemade tunnel extension and running boards... All polished...

15x159 2.52 Challenger 2" paddle
Wahl Bros 7 tooth anti ratchet drives
22/44 gearing
2000 HM 800 Team Secondary
1999 MXZ 600 non H.O. Primary

1997 Skidoo 670 (150psi compression)
Crankshop porting
UnionBay head
501 rotary valve
Crankshop rotary valve cover/oil delete
Shorty intake boots
1999 Summit X 44mm carbs
2002 Summit 800 CPI racing twin pipes/silencers
Crankshop 670 into zx chassis motor mount plate

2010 Polaris RMK 700 seat modded to fit with polished aluminum mounts

Front shock brackets flipped for 2 inch rise/homemade radius arms/steering linkage
Haven't choose skis yet/ will be 7" min

Fly racing NXT LVL bars/riser
RSI pivot post adapter and grip heaters..
Modded steering post /cut an rewelded plus spaced for more rider forward

That's the bulk of it...
Will post some pics..

So my questions are related to electrical/clutching/ and setup...

Question 1 electrical... no nothing about this

So I'm about to put the motor in and I have the 1999 600 non HO full sled harness/mpem/dess/plus all electrical components..

I have the stator/sensor/Cdi/coil from the 670...I know about the stator wattage difference...

Am I better off just getting a 1997 670 full sled harness??? And figuring out the headlight wiring...

Or what do I have to do to get the 600 non HO harness to work??? What about mpem/dess... Any advise on this would be great!!!

Question 2. Carb jetting.. Don't know much about this...

The carbs I have are cleaned and ready to go... Not going to be running dtm or anything like that...I have already removed the brass plugs from the front of them... They currently have 430 420 mains in them... And the other is stamped 2.0

Gonna use air box... So with the pipes I have and the motor mods that are done... I'm looking for a starting point...

Any advice here would be great!!!

Question 3.. Clutching/gearing

I have no idea here... I have the 600 primary which I think fits the 670 and the roller secondary...22/44 gearing currently.. And 7 tooth drives... Only want 60-65 mph out of it and I think 8000 rpm... What about the belt???

Any advice here would be great!!!!

I know it's a lot of info all at once.. But I needed to give you guys all of it so you can see where I'm heading... Which is also why I've come to the experts...

Thanks in advance...

Doug

We've built several race mods, (stripped out electrical). What do you have for the CDI box? Is it one from the 670 or the 600? You will need the box for the 670 with timing corrected for the porting (to get the most out of it).
Jetting; Are the 44's the carb that came off the 670, I thought those were 40mm.

If it's gonna flow more air (pipes, porting and carb), start with jetting for a 800cc and do plug chops and piston wash. That chassis makes it easy to check plugs and pistons wash.

As for the clutching, that's going to be the tuff one. Does the ZX clutch fit the taper of the 670? I know they changed the taper at one point, can't remember when.

Where in WI?

I bought the motor and it came with the Cdi/coil/stator/pickup for the motor...

I bought the carbs off ebay... The 1999 summit x 670 came with 44mm... I'm not going to be running DTM/ or H.A.C. Or anything like that...

I have read about the taper issue I may have... It's something I have to look into... It seems to fit...

Hit one of the MAX REP sections and post random items till you get to 15. I think that's the magic number for pic posting.

Race Shop in Wausau may have the taper tool you need. Goodwin was cutting them in the past.

Get a set of schematics for the 670 and the ZX chassis. Putting the two together is not that hard, just go slow and be detailed with duplicate drawings.
