Next trip up Ultra, my group is definitely going to charter you as our guide... haha

Sucks we missed ya last time, but next time with a little better planning we need to come up with something. My dad is probably retiring in about a year, I think the summer after we will be back up in your area..

Ultra, what is in the cans? Cat food? Just curious what ya use for prawn bait? Nice vid, we have a resident orca pod here, humbacks, dolphins & porpoises. How deep are you setting the prawn traps 300' or deeper?

Yep. Just plain old canned cat food. Salmon flavored of course! However the stores tend to run out of that around here every summer for some reason Guess nobody in the store shrimps lol. So I've used other flavors and done just as well with beef or chicken. Sure is cleaner and cheaper using canned cat food than chunked up herring and or pellets and herring oil. All have produced very similar results at the end of a soak.

I fish them as shallow as 300' at times. 500-600' is my typical target however. Even go down to 700-800' if I have to.

Thanks Rob. Too bad timing didnt work out so well for us on your last trip up. We'll have to try and hook up next time around!

We also have killer, humpback and minke whales in addition to the porpoises. Sea lions seals and damn otters everywhere! No shortage of sea mammals. All right around the site of the Exxon Valdez spill. Yet it killed off everything

Stop here on the way back, our runs are 3-5 weeks behind AK. Coho on light gear is nuts, got one this afternoon just up the street. I live 1 mile from the tidal Fraser River, we have some huge sturgeon here, google fraser river sturgeon for a taste. I've always wanted to start in AK and end up in N. Cal and fish all the major rivers in between. June-Nov fishin trip

The guys are slamming the kings (Chinook) here right now. Ive been too busy hunting and working the past 2 months to chase fish. Hope to get in on some of that when I get back home in two weeks. Guys have been landing as many as 14 a kings a day the past couple of weeks. Doubles and tripples. Just feeder kings and not spawners. But at 15-30 pounds they are still a ton of fun out in the salt and in the prime of their life. Often the feeders fight harder than the larger spawners do!
