Default Nikasil plating w/sleeves?

Anybody hear about Nikasil being used for iron liners? I'm building a new motor. Not quite ready to start a build thread but I'm in the planning stage now. Current engine is a 975. I stumbled upon some new 1140 parts, liners/cylinders/domes and head covers. I need pistons and pipes but crankshop has that stuff. I've been told Nikasil is for aluminum only. Seems like I read about a company that treats "metal" liners too. Need the experts opinion here.. thanks.

why would you need to plate the cast sleaves? I've never heard of it before but I'm not sure that it's out of the question.

when I had niked cylinders honed in the past they used a special hone because it's a harder surface. thought I'd look into it for more durability over the iron if possible. A company named "Power Seal" claims that they can Nikaseal plate "steel or aluminum". well any other thoughts on this? worth it?

It will last a while longer but one score or flake and it's off to a replate, On the other hand with the CI bore you can bore it out and be ready to rock new piston and all for less than $ the replate normally. All in all its 6 of one and half dozen of the other, but for me personally on a Big bore if there are overbore pistons readily available I'd opt for the CI bore. CI will also allow you and your machinist to play with the clearances a little easier to dial it in for more reliability if you have repeated problems with it.

I'll just get it finish honed and run it with coated pistons. Flakes ? no thanks.

I have nikisil plated cylinders in my Pro-X. I would pass if I had the choice. its super thin so you can wreck it unless you hone it just right and you have no option for a quick bore and rebuild should a ring take a nick out of it.
