I use the Garmin 60CS. Love it.
When you use the external antenna it will even work in a raging blizzard.

Big fan of Garmin handhelds for the consumer market, have used 3-4 over the years and currently use a eTrex because they are basic, have the same chip sets as the expensive units, and cheaper if you bust them up (I take mine hunting, fishing, mountain biking, sledding, kayaking, and out firefighting for work, still haven't figured out how to protect it from heat haha). I abuse the heck out of my units but they stay super accurate up to the dying day (found a downed radio collar navigating 150 miles away unsing lat/longs transmitted and took me to within 15ft of it.)

If ya got deep pockets and really know what you are doing, look at Trimble, they have some of the best sub-meter accuracy units you can buy, but not practical for most uses (engineering style unit).

I ride with a 60CSx right now, but if I had to do it again I'd get the 76. Same firmware, different form factor... key point being the mount wraps around the receiver instead of relying on the 1/2" belt clip to secure it.

Thing with those is the data service comes through XMWX. The GPS signals are free thanks to the government, but XMWX to get the weather/satellite/traffic data is a setup+monthly fee.

Garmin Rino 530 hcx. I like this model for a few reasons....throw a 2 mb card at it, and you can download half the US with topo maps. Also like the radio attached, one less thing to carry. My buddies have them to, so when we are talking, it shows me where they are on my screen. The hcx is also fun for geochaching with the kids....download geocaches, and the barometric compass puts me right on top of it.

.....only cons......the little deal you clip on the back of the battery to charge it is weak, and the pins break a lot!
