Default 1991 Yamaha Exiter cooling issues

I have flushed the system, new cap, new thermostat and gasket and new hoses. I was thinking either belt that turns the propeller or bearing. Have any ideas? I went back to the text books and really couldn't come up with anything else.

I bought it this way! I tried it on a little snow and it would come on as soon as it would heat up to temp then the light would come on and go off and on and off. Then of course it would boil into the overflow when i would shut it off. I haven't had a chance to bring it to some real snow to see if that changes anything.

ya it could just be not enough snow being thrown onto the heat exchanger, but if it does it right when it is just idling that wouldn't be it.
try it in some powder and report back

did you get all the air out of the system? there is a bleed screw under the seat where the exchangers cross over. could still have an airpocket.

I just thought about something else it did so maybe it could be that damn belt. I was ripping up the neighborhood and the oil light came on for a minute and i had to sit and let it idle till she idled higher then i was able to rip it up again. Maybe i need to replace the oil lines also.

The oil pump and the waterpump are driven by the same belt i believe
I have seen them pop the oil pump seal out and 2 stroke oil gets on the belt and they overheat
You should be able to tell if the unit is pumping coolant, even of you have to pop one of the lines off and see if it squirts coolant

i am going to open her up and see what the problem is! It's a fun sled to ride! I am not even sure if i want to sell it. Great trail sled. Not too mention it's fast as hell for a 570.
