Keepin the Poo forum going...
Heres what Im working on for this season: 02 Pro-X 440lc factory mod racer with trail setup.I bought it in 05 and it was already trail converted. It never ran quite right, but last season, I got the clutching worked out. Unfortunately, 87 octane fuel and ethanol detonated and I got a 4 corner sieze. got parts on order... Heres how it was when I bought it 06-07: ![]() In 07-08 ![]() In 08-09

I was wanting this one to last one more year, but I guess I wasnt lucky enough!
I am going to rebuild it now and then next summer I am either going to put a 600 (as its basically a bolt in and im lazy) and a 144 or look into an IQR. Although I REALLY like this chassis, you work ALOT harder on these than the newer chassis'! Where are you living now? Not at home anymore I suspect.

If you dont mind, and are around, next time I'm in the area I'd like to take a glimpse at your/your families X's. I am debating more power and track or just replacing for next year.

Just a thought here but Deto "normally" won't cause a 4 corners seize by itself. Normally that kind of a failure is due to 1 of 2 things Very rapidly heating the piston (too fast for it to transfer the heat from the piston through the rings to the cylinder many times due to the rings not being seated yet) or very rapidly cooling the cylinder like not running a thermostat or having it stuck open and running a trail for a while then diving into powder and cooling the coolant very rapidly.
There is definitely deto there due to the white specks and the center of the piston having all the carbon blown off it. But Deto caused failure is normally evidenced by broken ring lands and crowns or holes burned in the center of the piston vs a 4 corner seize. I'm not saying it's impossible but I'd be looking deeper than just the fuel quality if it were me. Quick question, are you running a Thermostat? if not you should get one in there to prevent that from happening again. Last edited by XC; 11-12-2009 at 07:34 PM. |
