Default Right-side-bog and Mag-side-temps related?

Are the Right-side-bog and Mag-side-temps related on the 1M's? I think they are.

For some reason I related the Right-side-bog to carving to the right and having it bog, but from recent observations i've concluded that it refers to the right sparkplug fowling when you are in deep snow. The most reasonable explaination to this that I have read is the water vapors (steam) comming off of the pipe and being sucked into the intake, and with the venturi affect you would get more of the steam in the right cylinder.

If you look at the hole at the front of your right side intake you can see that it is right next to the can which disipates a lot of heat, and steam in deep snow. Now if you gut the airbox you will still have a venturi affect which will draw more heat and / or steam into the mag side cylinder which accounts for both the right side bog, and the high temps in the mag side cylinder.

I have already put the SLP vent covers on, and siliconed the drain slots under the intakes, but during this last ride dad had a bad right side bog, His right sparkplug kept fowling. I have the front dump so I don't get it, but I figure It can only help to cut out some of that heat comming off of the can.

This is my cheap fix.

Clean the surface of the front intake opening

Use a High quality Metalic tape

Cut it to fit the opening

Seal that Opening

*UPDATE*: I was just reading my airbox mods, and I remember that I used the metalic tape to plug the drain slots underneith. The reason I stayed away from the silicone is that I didn't want it coming loose and getting sucked into the intake.

I think that the pipe swooping past that side of the engine has a lot to do with the increased heat on the mag side so my theory is that this will not resolve the issue, but it can't hurt.

as far as the right-side-bog, I'll test it and post if it resolves dads problem, or not.

try the snorkel out of the speedo hole but you need to add about 2-4 jet sizes

I have all of the right side vents blocked and the snorkel and I still get the right side bog. I had an SLP single with the transfer tube and switched to CPI twins and I noticed no difference today. It still bogs but its not as bad, im going to try sealing up those vents a little better. BTW my sled is an EFI 900.

You've got a good point Hobbz, I was looking at that left vent,
and thought it would be a good place for belt dust to get in to the engine.

Before this is all over, I wouldn't be surprised if I do something like that,
but I am kind of fond of the speedo.
I do like what you've done with The Toilet

I'll bet she's a runner

If you haven't covered the intake
then you will still get snow that will swirl around
and get into the intake.

I've had the powder bog on every sled I've owned.
Now I get the choked out bog, have to reach down once in a while
and swat the intakes off in the deep fluffy stuff.
At least I'm not getting snow in there.

Oh, I almost forgot what I came to this thread for.
So far no bog on dads sled. We were able to find some snow
that was deep enough to possibly affect it, but after we get
a deep dumping I'll post the results again.
