Took my exhaust valves out the other day to clean and now I can't remember which side is up and which is down. They fit in there both ways. Is it picture 1(left) or 2(right). thanks

The second photo is the correct way and that is the only way they will go in. If you try the wrong way the valves will catch and you'll have to compress them while putting them in.

The bottom edge of the valve is bevelled.
That bevel should sit so that when it's in and all the way down, the piston clears the valve. Imagine pressing the valve against a cylinder, one way would mate better than the other. The way that mates better is the way you want it installed. The picture's a bit fuzzy, but it looks like the top one is the direction you want it to go in. |

Well, I pulled my 08 700 valves tonight and picture #2 is how they came out and that was the only way they would go back in.

They should only go in one way.

Mine go in both ways and work both ways! Maybe the stock sleds only go in one way, This sled has a 910 BB and carls did something to the valve to make it fit both ways by accident. I will call them later to find out which way. Thanks Last edited by SKIPPY; 12-18-2009 at 11:27 AM. Reason: spelling |
