Below the ridge rocks blow in snow is very dicey so far this year.
Not preaching, but right now I reserve my alty face pounds for the sunny South face before it warms up, (where most of the wind load is removed to steeper back sides) and settled from the previous weeks sunlite.
The blown in on the afternoon shady below rock cliffies this year is very layered and unglued.
Based some, got cold, snowed, then blew and immediate cold again.
Guess this is obvious by the pics, careful assessment is special needed much this year!
Thanks for the vivid stills.

Today's storm will give more challenge to the boondock. Some wind load with it
Though.
More on the way Saturday.

Default Sketchy stuff

View out the back window today, Noticed that the whole face of Haystack Mountain let go natural. I have never seen this large of slide on that mountain
to date. About a mile along as face break. Think I will wait a few days to get mountain base pictures of the carnage. Pretty sure the bottom of Strawberry is now 20" deeper at the run out, WOW.

A friends uncle was caught in a slide couple weeks ago. My buddy was telling me the little bit he know. Buried head down for 20min and survived. Was unconscious and his face was black when they pulled him out. I guess they could barely recognize him. Pretty scary. This guy lives and rides some where around Afton I think.

Two were very blessed that day others could and did help, as close as one can come to over.
We were in the same area(but not the same spot) a week earlier and before the the new deep snow that they were playing on.
I hear That Todd is doing okay now.

Wow, Thanks for the sad update B-rad

Rescue to to help rescue has got to be the hardest, and this will hit our Valley team, just so hard.
I had not heard this yet as I was out in the Mtns today helping my Brother get back out with a bad arm, after a creek crossing gone wrong.
My deepest condolence to the departed family, friends and most of all for the pilot that remains now with question of what could, if anything have gone different.
