Default RoughRider Snowmobile Club

Seeing a LOT of members from our club here already, figured I should add a little info about our club...

Roughrider Snowmobile Club is out of Bismarck, ND and we run about 235 shared miles of trails, also sharing our groomer with the neighboring club. The goal of the club is to promote the sport of snowmobiling in a fun, safe, and family oriented atmosphere.

Some of the events that our club hosts are radar runs, fun runs to raise money for charity ($1000 alone on our ride last year), hill climbs, and other group rides among members.

Club meets on 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month during the sledding season, usually at the Amvets in Bismarck but keep checking back as we are trying to go to different locations throughout this year.

Nice addition guys! I will keep a log of events from our meetings in here. As well as post future meeting dates and locations. I think we should keep this area for club related posts only and keep the general good buddy chat in the "ND Boys" thread.

I am going to omitting names and anything financial in the meeting minutes, so bear with me if they are a little "choppy" to read.

Meeting Minutes 10/26/09

Burleigh County Emergency Management gave their annual presentation to express need for volunteers with snowmobiles in case of snow emergencies. will update and release a new calling tree.

Trail signing is all complete except for 80th street to burnt creek. The Hyw 83 trail issue was resolved by moving the crossing north north of Bismarck 2 miles further north and the crossing south of Wilton ¼ mile further south for crossing safety. Was noted that the new trail south of Regan was slightly modified to avoid the trail passing close to the land owners house. The land owner also noted that he would like to see “daylight hours only” signs and noted that if things go well this year, he has a large area that would make a good “play area” for next season.

Members discussed a possible avalanche class to be presented in Bismarck in February due to high local interest with Rough Riders and Huff Hills Members.

Members discussed raising the donation money for the SND Hospitality room for the Convention in Jamestown from $150 to $250. Linton riders donated $250. Motion Denied.

Members discussed interest in opening a club house and some possible locations.

Members discussed moving the meetings on a monthly basis to spread our business and local awareness. Was noted that we would talk to Skidoo dealer about hosting a meeting there.

Was noted that the RoughRiders website has been update with new membership forms.

A motion to pay for postage for prospecting new and past members was made and Accepted.

Members discussed making/ordering signs with large trail maps on them for trail intersections. Members discussed replacing 6 of 10 lost “trail sponsored by” signs. Decision to wait until next year.
