I switch back and forth all of the time, I run whatever oil I happen to have in my garage whenever the sled needs some, I have run polaris, Injex, Amsoil and other very vheap oils that I also run in the boat, Have two sleds with over 3,000 miles on both of them and no problems this far.

You can mix synthetic with conventional oil? I thought you weren't supposed to do that?

What do you think "semi-synthetic" is? LOL. Probably not the best thing to do, but really can't see the harm. I went back to semi-synth in my Xp this year and I sucked the tank out of the 100% synth that was in there....but I never got all nuts and cleaned lines or wiped it out or anything like that.

Interesting tidbit of info on semi-synthetic. Did you know that all that the oil has to contain for synthetic content is 10% for them to advertise is as such?

Buyer beware on that.

What I have done in the past when switching oils is to do what Daveb said.
I just get as much oil out of the res. as possible and don't worry about the other stuff.
Some oils can have adverse affects when mixed. Usually it will get think or you can get string like stuff, but I have only seen that when you mix something like 1/2 the res with radically different oils.

My FIL burned down a sled a few years back because he put... Yamalube I think in a sled that had been running on some other oil... I want to say Walmart Supertech. The oil all basically turned to goo. I think at least getting your old oil out of the reservoir is a real good idea after seeing that.

What ever happened with that Blue Marble oil? There was a lot of hype about it a couple years ago, now never hear about it . Nobody around here carries it.
(Never used it myself.)
