Hey guys, on a '97 RMK 700 is it okay to have a little play in the driven clutch? Meaning side to side movement, not front to back movement. I just had the clutches rebuilt and put em back on and there's a little side-to-side movement on the driven. Is that okay? If not, do I just add another spacer washer to keep it from moving? Also, my belt seems a little loose. Barely any power when I'm just starting out in the deep stuff, so i'm thinking it's too loose and making it in a higher gear when I start out. How's the best way to shim the motor forward to tighten the belt? Any ideas? Thanks

It is supposed to "float" on the jackshaft.

...and the belt should be a bit loose, that's what allows the sled to idle while stopped. Try dropping your gearing a bit...that will help out a lot.

Your belt should have around .75" to 1" of deflection. The belt should sit up out of the driven approx. 1/8". To adjust the belt tension, you do that in the driven clutch. I can't remember if it has the adjuster on the 97's. If it does there is a goldish looking dial with 3 bolts holding it tight. There is 1 through 5. I believe 1 is the loosest and 5 is the tightest. if that doesn't work you either reshim the driven or buy a new belt. Hope this helps.
