Question Polaris iqr

So I was wanting to buy a polaris iqr and I figured that it would just need to be trail converted to. And I could run it on 91 octane, but the polaris guy said at haydays today that they would not be reliable you would have to be worrying about it blowing up. Help and advice on what to do MUCH appreciated!!

i have a few friends that took stock 2011 stock iqr sleds and revalved all the shocks, put 130 lb front springs on, do the 8.5 gallon polaris tank or the trail tank, bolth are great tanks.and make sure you always run premium at the least but lots here in alaska also put like a gallon on av gas in with a full tank. Other than that they are great bump pounders.

Thats what I am worried about though is that premium is going kill that motor? All I got is 91 octane and I am not going to have the chance to mix any ave fuel.

I believe 92 is the minimum octane. You then set the timing dial to G or what ever the most retarded is and jet it really fat. The end result is a 600 that uses a lot of gas, doesn't run all that good or produce much power. You are better off running a mix of race or avgas to bring the octane up to the 95 range.

What would happen if you just added a can of octane boost ?
Like a can of 108 or similar products.
Unless you machine is a total race modded sled; the octain boost should be more than enough with out the Avation or race fuel.

I don't know how effective octane boost is? One of my buddy's burned down a Pro-X 440 years ago running some type of gas blend with octane boost.

The Hardcoresledder 440/race sled section has good info about trail converting IQR's. Bad thing is you have to put up with the hardcoresledder forum. JS Powersports had a ton of great info on their website.
