Default A how to install on betterboards/snow eliminators

here is a quick how to on a set of better board going on a polaris edge chassis

first you lay the board down on the foot well i slide it all the way back till it fits snug

then trace out the holes with a marker so you can see your lines

after removing the board i take a straight edge and connect all the lines together

after that there are a few different way to cut the boards out

step i used was plasma cutter
have used a jigsaw before

on the jigsawy i took and drilled 4 holes in each corner of the boards has to have a place to start and stop the jigsaw nicely

cut just on the outside of your line you marked so you dont see stock running board through the openings of the better boards/snow eliminators

but make sure you you still have a good area to rivet the boards down with

on many sleds there are bumps and rivets that are not in the area you just cut out that hold the board from sitting flat on the running board

i prefer a 120 grit dewalt tiger pay that you can get from your local hardware store for $7 they come in 60 80 and 120 grit the 120 grit is more forgiving if you nic the tunnel or anything else

after using the tiger paw on the bumps and rivets

lay the boards back in the foot wells make sure they fit nice take a 3/16 drill bit and drill and install the pop rivets that came with your board kit

I had heard that it is a good idea to leave a couple of strips of the original footboards (hidden under the cross-pieces of the BB/SnowElim) to retain a bit more strength. You wouldn't see them, but it may help with the rigidity. Do you think this would this be a good idea or not?

i did that on the first edge i ever did

it wasn't worth it time you got them thin enough that you couldn't see them they were all flimsy and what not

these boards make the whole board stiffer i had a customer get on it and he couldn't believe the strenghth they added

Excellent! I have a set sitting in the garage and I've just been a little unsure to start cutting into my 1M. What about having them powdercoated to help repel the snow? (Snow Eliminators)
