Who considers sidehilling "across" a hill climb area as rude?
Some people refer to it a zippering a hill. I love to sidehill. I will sidehill thru trees, across climb areas, anywhere I can. I think it's a blast. Never could understand all the hoopla about climbing. You sit at the bottom of the hill all day and go up and down.

I guess it depends on how many people are lined up at the bottom to climb the hill

I've done plenty of sidehilling across a hill, I don't see the problem really.

I guess there's a couple of ways to look at it.
1. If it's a hill that is known for climbing then I think that it would be. 2. If your just out with your buds playing on some hill I think it's just fine. Sometimes it the only way to get up them hills on deep days.

hahaha.... I like to put a nice big sidehill trench across a clean face. Makes me feel better knowing there are people out there looking at it saying "Look at the mark some idiot left across the hill"...

It's fun to come in from the backside, drop over the ridge, go down 1/3 the face and lay it over and burn a nice trench straight across the face. Gives the point and shooters a challenge.

whats so bad about it? Is it because all the lines aren't pointed in a single direction? who cares. Holding a really long sidehill takes more talent than going up and down on a hill anyways.

I would guess that most of the bitching comes from the guys that get all out of whack when they have to cross your "zipper line".

Wheeled wing likes to cut across, double back and cut a double line. I haven't quite got the 180 flip down yet. I figure it doesn't take any skill to just point a sled uphill and pin the throttle. I am just adding a level of dificulty to it. climbers should thank us for making it a challenge.
