Up for sale is a old vintage rare raider snowmobile this unit was a prototype unit built by Bob Bracey we believe there is only one of these to be made, this particular raider was built with a Salsbury hydraulic transmission and we made as a prototype to test this type of drive system for production use at a later date but we understand this technology was never added to production machines, this raider also had a disc brake mounted on the jack shaft that ran under the seat, this unit was a used snowmobile when we received it and has to have alot of work done to it to make it run again, the floor boards rusted through from standing water during storage outside, this machine has most of its parts and could make a nice rare raider as a restoration

I recall that Yamaha experimented with a hydrostatic drive system in the early '70's.

Arctic Cat may have done the same, but I'm unsure if I remember correctly.

With all the hype of the side by side 4 wheelers now, I am somewhat surprised someone has not come out with a modern side by side twin track sled. For utility purposes and such.

Fluid drive on any sled would mean one thing, the belt mfgs would scream bloody murder (selling belts anyways). Completey feasible in my opinion, why not? As for the Raider, great find!
