Hey guys...
Going to finish out this season on my pro-x mod and then upgrade next year. Tired of the physical work out throwing this thing around compared to the new sleds. and gotta keep up with the Jones's ya know. Not going to be able to afford a 2011 RMK or assault and bobby tells me that I ride a little hard so I am not sure a stock 06-10 RMK will cut it. Right now, my thoughts are 09 or 10 Assault, but I really like the race chassis mods so my other option is an 06 to 08 IQR mod with 700 or 800 VES and 144-155. On the otherhand, I would like a minimal maintenance sled, so maybe I should be getting away from the mods? on the other hand, I have heard that the assaults are not the greatest deep snow/mountain sleds. So, help me out here. How do the IQR mods do? And the assaults? Anyone have an EFI in the IQR so you dont have to dick with jetting for altitude? What would I look at paying for a completed turnkey 700 or 800 stretched IQR? Do I dare try building one? Thanks!!!! Last edited by Bump; 12-29-2010 at 09:34 AM. |

Assault issues were the track itself, I rode one yesterday with a swapped track and no issues at all.
Minimal maintainence is what I was after, so the new RMK is only getting a can and maybe some clutching. Sure gonna be nice to go to the mountains and only have to change a set of weights. As for cost of changing an iqr over to a mtn sled, all depends how wild you wanna go. Could build one for prob. 6-7k or build one for 20k, all depends and that is prob. thwe same thing you will hear. Biggest issue is getting your hands on a good running EFI engine for a good price and finding a good donor IQR to start with, for what you have into a mod IQR you could be into a well built and tuned RMK. And yes, Weston you need exit shocks. |

What year assault did you ride? 11? I would be looking at an 09 or 10

This was a 2010 assault, if we go ride out in the valley again, he will let you ride it, he will be at the state ride and will also be going to West with us.

Do you know what track he has on it? The one that was for sale at HSC is back on bisman with only 200 miles added to it. He hasnt told me why he is selling it so fast though.

No idea track, said he sold his assault track back to tracks USA and they sold him this replacement one that everyone was putting on, a little different because of the center driver design. Sled works good and he really likes it.

Are all the assaults EFI?
