Default Looking at a 08 M1000

I'm looking at buying an almost new 2008 M1000 153. Its only got 110 miles on it, the seller bought it and then never had many chances to ride it. He's trying to unload it to me for what he owes on the loan, 6K.

Seems like a decent deal to me, the only thing i would prefer is a longer track, but that can be changed. I'm currently riding a ZX chassis summit, so the weight isn't gonna be any worse that what I'm accustomed to already.

Is there any big issues with these sleds, or can one be ridden as is for years to come? It seems almost every M1000 i see is modded, is this out of necessity or the constant desire for more power? Diamond Drive bearing? Engine? Just trying to make sure i just don't dive in over my head on this.

Thanks guys and gals.

I have an 08 M1K and have put a lot of miles on it with out any failures due to wear. The only issue I have had is with belts but some people don't have any problem getting 600 out of a belt and some like me can toast one in a day. I am pretty sure I will have my belt issues resolved this season so if you buy it and have problems send me a pm. The reason you see M1K modded is because there is a lot of performance left on the table in stock form. Mine is mildly modded and there is a huge difference in power. If you can pick one up for 6k I would be all over it. People can say what they want but the M1K is the king of the mountain when comparing stock sleds.

Thanks for the response, I think i'm gonna go take a look at the sled later tonight and possibly see if i can test ride the sled. I've got thousands of miles under my belt on Skidoos, but none on the M chassis.

Thanks again.

Ausm, what did you do to get more out of your 1000? I just picked up a new 08 1000, looking for ideas.

Budd was saying to add an extra motor mount to help with belt life.

What do you want to put into it? 1k? 3k? 6k?

I've had them with as little as Y & intake, and fully modded well over 200hp & in between. I feel I've found a happy medium with my 09, 2k miles without an issue or a box to fiddlefuk with, but around 190hp.

Just depends on what you want to put into it for $$.
