One of La Nina's signatures is these cold, moist and unstable weather systems that come out of the Pacific NW and extend into Canada. These clippers are fast and weak, according to the Natl. Weather Service but they tend to linger on the upslope for hours on end dumping snow on the westerly facing mountains. Steamboat does really well in seasons like this.
The last La Nina pattern was in 2007-2008 and we all know how NW CO fared that year. Remember, that was the endless winter, freshies every weekend and they were DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. That was the year that Buff Pass recorded well over 500 inches of total snowfall, from early December to late May. The Spring Fling that year was epic, over the hood snow all weekend. The NWS states that she will hang around throughout the Winter. The Eastern and Southern halves of Colorado will tend to be drier while the Northern and Western facing halves are likely to have a snowy Winter. These comments were pulled from a news article and are from Kyle Fredin of the NWS, my comments are in red.

I had a BLAST that year. Every weekend was 1 - 2 feet of fresh snow. That was the year people went sledding on the 4th of july.

Yeah, or are you gonna pick a place in NM.
And ya, that year was one of the best years that I have ever had.

Well, I was offered a job at Los Alamos but I turned it down bc it would mean my wife would be out of work.
One income for us would be too hard. I'm trying really hard to get over that way permanently. Things here in the federal sector work really slowly (go figure). For now I'll pray for the ability to get time off to enjoy the over the windshield days.

Well, the wife agreed to CO or NM so whichever comes up first is where I'm going to pull the trigger. Either place is a helluva lot closer to riding.
