Taking a pole to see what interest there will be in Fox Float rear skid shocks. Working with a Fox expert and these are not a shelf item and are hand made and valved for the riders style ,Weight-. jumping/powder /trail will all specify shock setup. There are two options .Fox 2,s Floats which will be $850 a pair and the Mac daddy.Evol -R,s Floats which allow adjustment of ride height and another adjustment for progression /bottom resistance at $1150 a pair.with micro pump. These are plush for the first several inches and progressively increase the rate to the riders preference. Yes they are pricey however the performance of the R,s are unmatched. These have been tested on a snow cross application with great results. The R,s give unlimited adjustment for individual preference and will keep the nose down with a little adjustment in the E -vol chamber.I currently run these on my mod sled and can easily justify the performance gains..Upon Assembly of my Mod hawk will get the Evol R,s.will post some pics.

I'm trying to get past the sticker shock
Are you running just two shocks? That would make it $1275 or $1725 for me I just can't get past the I can't speak for any other Hawks but one thing I've noticed is that a lot of Hawk peeps are very creative and would rather take a bullet than fork out that kind of cash. Leave that to the two ski guys that seem to be dumping money in their machines just to make them run. I am curious but the price is a no go right know.

On another note. What do you think the cost would be to purchase a set of replacement stock shocks?I really dont know however my guess is $900 bucks a pair. anyone know?

The salvage places usually sell for half and then theres always take offs from wrecks that are usually a lot cheaper not counting rebuild. Since the Hawk has a falling rate suspension I've wondered what air shocks would do? Will they brake your back with the sudden stop airs are or where known for? Are the dirt bikes running air? Lots of questions that no one will commit to? If the airs can work like gas charged oil shocks I would be very curious?

The falling spring rate will be counteracted with the E-vol chamber, If you pump it up to 175ish it will have superior bottom resistance.Thats the sweet thing about the R shock,And It will remain supple at the top of the stroke. Also found a brand new pair of coil over take off shocks from a 2011 ski-doo asking 900 bucks.I really dont think the Fox price is out there for what you get, It,s not for everyone I know.We love options

If there was a machine with these shocks at HawkFest that people could try, AND if they made a dramatic difference in the ride, I could see some people going for it.
Upon expeirencing a dramatic difference in the ride of a Hawk, I might give a set a try, but I'm not interested in being a $1,800 guinea pig. |

I've never seen air shocks on dirt bikes. Probably due too the progressive geometry of the rear linkage a hot exhaust pipe 3/4 of an inch away. The air bag wouldn't live. The common in sleds due to light wieght and hi rising rate which fixes falling rate suspension geometry.

I know that alot of the road bikes are starting to switch to air ride shocks and these give a far more plush ride than that of the coil over shocks. And I have ridden a two ski with fox air ride front shocks and you can really tell the deference in ride between a standard sled. And they must be better if all sno x guys are starting to switch over to these shocks and its 1200 for the pair I believe.
