Default 2010 XP800, total fawking POS

Trying to help out my buddy, he snow checked this sled and has had NOTHING but issues with the fawking thing from day 1. 2010 XP Summit X, 800, 163, electric start. He put some kind of a damn can on it, they installed it for him during sled setup. HPS? Doesn't really matter I don't think. Oh, and its vented to the hilt.
Anywho, its got about 600 miles on it is all. It keeps cutting out under power for some reason. He said up to about 1/2 throttle it acts fine, and on the trail if he rolls it on real easy he was able to get slightly past 1/2 throttle before running out of territory. If you smash the flipper, it cuts out and falls on its face every time. It's been to the dealer at least 10 times for this problem, I chit you not. He put more miles on the dealer demo sled last year than his own. Things that have been tried- new fuel pump, clean exhaust valves, clean carbs, and the dealer has fawked and fiddled with it off and on for the last 2 seasons trying to make it run. It's never been in a bad wreck, it's been tipped over and rolled out of a stuck a time or two but nothing serious. The few times it has actually ran right, it fawkin ripped. That's been maybe 3-4 rides over the last 2 seasons of riding.
Any suggestions??? He was going to try and take it back to the dealer Monday and beg for mercy since the warranty ran out but it's the same damn issue it's had from day 1.

don't know if this is even close but my riding partner (Same sled) had similar issues... chased them around for a while... in the end it ended up being a missing plug on the HPS can. His HPS can had a hole in it for an EGT sensor from the factory and it needed to be plugged back up. Went to Lowes...got a threadded metal plug...boom... problem fixed.

hope it might be something this simple.

Well, if you think it's the can, then put the stock one back in, and try it for a couple days. Everyone with an XP has a stock can sitting in their garage.

Can the dealer tell if the ECU went into safe retarded mode for some reason?

Something stupid, like bad contact with the tether, or the temp wire overheating. Plus, wasn't there a couple wires, that rubbed through, on some sleds, and caused problems.

Could this sled fall under the lemon law?

If it's been to the dealer that many times (documented), I would think they would stand behind it. If not, contact the Doo rep and go from there.

Entirely possible, I had a jetski once that had an exhaust leak and with the engine cover off it would rip, but put the cover on and it would barely run. Exhaust getting trapped under the hood. On a trail, the momentum helps "pull" the exhaust out, peg it and it fills the engine compartment.

Yha, but the intake is on the outside left corner of the hood. I don't think smoke could work it's way back outside. Unless the intake was being bypassed by the little round bypass valves in the intake housing.

Does it cut out with full tank of fuel or half tank? Mine was cutting out uphill with 3/4 tank. Ended up that pickup line in tank had come off, from factory no clamp on line; installed clamp on pickup line-problem solved.

He had that problem too, that's one of the many things the dealer has done to try and make this stupid pig run.
I'll tell him to check the can and maybe swap the stock one back in.
I don't think it's ever gone into limp mode or thrown a code, I'd have to ask him.
He was pissed because he's missing another day of riding today so maybe one of these suggestions will pan out.
