Hello:
I posted this a couple of seasons ago so I thought it was time to say it again. We went to a couple of shows and people were surprised when I told them to wash and dry their Klim Gear. Here are some direct quotes from the Gore-Tex site: "Wash your garment as often as you need to. In fact, washing and tumble-drying will actually help restore the water-repellency performance of a GORE-TEX® garment." "There's no mystery here. Just toss your GORE-TEX® garment in the washing machine in warm (104° F/40° C) water. Use powder or liquid detergent, but skip the fabric softener and chlorine bleach, please. Then tumble-dry on a normal warm setting and you're ready to go. That's it. Be sure to read the manufacturer's care tag in your garment for specific instructions." Here is what eVent, MotorFist Gear, has to say on their web site: Thorough washing will generally maintain and restore product performance. Regular washing of your eVent garment will enhance product performance. Your garment may be machine washed in warm water (110F / 40C) with liquid detergent, and we recommend a second rinse to remove all traces of detergent from the fabric. We recommend you drip-dry your garment. Remember also to refer to the garment manufacturer’s guidelines. Do not use fabric softeners or bleach. Never dry-clean your garment. Take our Snowmobile Survey for a chance to win $100! Thanks Mark

Actually just did this last night, with my Klim sled jacket and Cortech moto overpants.
Jacket wasn't bad, but my moto overpants get pretty gross from riding all winter. Road grime, snow/rain... All that gunk you wash off your car is what gets on my pants. Pull all the removable pads out before you start, and empty the pockets (Found $10 in my moto jacket! ![]() Warm-hot water in the bathtub, throw in some laundry soap powder. Swish around till soap is dissolved. Toss in jacket/pants. Swish around in warm soapy water till wet, then agitate by hand to thoroughly clean. I let it sit for about 15 minutes in the soapy water, then swished around again. Drain the tub, get all the pockets of water emptied from jacket/pants. Warm water rinse, no soap. Swish jacket/pants around. Drain. 2nd warm water rinse. Swish around. Drain. Water's coming out clear, so I got all the soap out of jacket/pants. I let the jacket/pants air-dry - hung them up in the garage with a fan on them. Then I sprayed down jacket/pants with silicone spray. Jacket got a 2nd application a few hours later. Gore-tex is decent, but silicone spray makes it work a LOT better after a few seasons. Did the same with my moto jacket a few weeks ago. Once the silicone dries/cures it doesn't have much of a smell, though I can still catch a whiff of it when I open my closet at work after having it hang in there all day. ![]()

You know Mule they have things called washing machines?? Curious why you don't use that... I always just use a more delicate setting on it and toss all my gear in at once.

Mine sucks. If it's even slightly out of balance it wanders around the laundry room and pisses water everywhere.
So... Big stuff I just do in the tub. When I wash all my gear, I fill the tub about halfway and turn the jets on for 10mins or so. Pretty much the same thing as a washing machine. ![]()
