PLA and ABS are the two most common plastics, yes. There are metal 3D printers, but for the complexity (or lack thereof) on this part, it'd be much easier to mill. Hell, could probably even stamp that part.

Have one here at work.

I'd have to sell a $hit ton of clips to justify a metal 3D printer!

Do you know how much they will be? I would probably buy a bunch of them for people up here in Canada. I know quite a few people running the Pro Armor units, and inevitably they will all eventually break the plastic ones.

Alright, well here is the update. I removed the plastic clips from my lanyards, and replaced them with the aluminum clips. I used a cutting wheel to cut a notch in the old ferrule, and then chisel to split it in order to release the vinyl covered cable that makes up the lanyard. I used the swaging crimpers in the picture to secure the lanyard in the new ferrule. If you don't have a swaging tool, you can just use a hammer to smash the ferrule with the same results.

Due to lack of snow, I haven't been able to test them out in the field, but I have a little bit of concern. The stock plastic clips have a narrower dimension at the opening the the 'jaws'. The plastic flexes and expands a little bit to around the shaft of the kill switch, then returns to its original shape. Obviously this can't happen due to the rigidity of aluminum.

The new clips are machined to a tolerance that ensures a tight fit into the switch, but they don't exactly "clip" into place. I don't think the aluminum clip with fall out during use however as it takes some tension on the lanyard to pull the it free. In this video, you can see that it takes some effort to pull the clip, but not nearly as much as the stock plastic clip. I believe that the slack in the coiled lanyard will allow for plenty of movement while maneuvering on the machine. A stray tree branch when riding tight trees may be enough to yank the clip though.

If this doesn't scare you guys off, and you are still interested, I should be receiving 10 or so clips tomorrow or Monday at the latest. I'll have them packed up with replacement ferrules and ready to ship.
$10/clip. PM me for PayPal or payment.

I would take 6 of them...if you can spare that many. It'd make the crappy shipping worth while
