Why would i need a shock cover, never had a problem with any other sleds shocks?

The way the rear skid is designed the rear shock when run without a shock cover will pack with sno/ice and bind the rear spring, the skid will start slamming through the travel. When that happens you are bottoming internal shock parts. It will damage the shocks and your looking at $200-500 to repair. Unless you have a pile of to just throw at the sled, get the $50 shock covers. Carry a spare set as well.

I've owned 4 Ez Rydes, this has been a concern since day 1. It is even listed in the manual that if you run the ski without shock covers in place the warranty will be void.

You can purchase shock covers through any EZ Ryde dealer, or Exit shocks has nice covers. I run the Exit covers as they are slightly larger in diameter and have a wider velcro patch. You will want to wrap both shocks, the front shock cover is open at the bottom, the front track shock uses the snow and ice flying around in the skid to keep the shock cool, the rear should cover the whole shock body/spring.

Pictures are worth a lot of words, here they are installed:
