I have some 304 stainless coming today I'll give that a try one of these Years be able to ride all winter long

My 600's stock jackshaft was stamped 7075 t6 . My 500 made a mess of a 6061 shaft I built to fit the a/c secondary.

I'm sure now that I'm making the bottom shaft stronger and chain stronger the next fail is top shaft but I'm getting 09 summit clutch and shaft so I can use reverse so should be good

When you shorten the QRS shaft be sure to really weld it. I used 3 3/4" holes plug welded and it didn't hold. I wound up cutting 3 3/4" wide slots 2" long into it and now it's holding fine

i ordered 7075 today to make a few shafts to test with going to start with drive shafts since i wont destroy clutches if break and can swap out quickly

Let me know how it works mine lasted almost a season last year but spun the key way at the end then this year after turning it down to ture it up broke after maybe 50 miles

Aluminium 7050 is even better than 7075. It has better SCC properties and is a bit tougher than 7075.
